East Anglian Book Awards 2022

The Friends of the Ipswich Museums are absolutely delighted - and proud! - that two books associated with us and authored by CIMS’ brilliant Art Curator Emma Roodhouse have been nominated for the coveted East Anglian Book Awards 2022. Emma is the only author on the shortlist of 18 to have two books in contention - a wonderful achievement!

Emma’s beautifully presented and impeccably researched Creating Constable (co-authored with fellow CIMS employee Caleb Howgego) was part funded by the Friends and contains a Foreword by our President, Penny Deben. A catalyst for The Art of Doris & Anna Zinkeisen by Philip Kelleway, Emma Roodhouse and Nicola Evans (of KSH Conservation Ltd) was the purchase of the triple portrait by Doris Zinkeisen that we part funded and had restored. Co-author Philip Kelleway is a member and supporter of the Friends, and we are excited that Doris Zinkeisen’s art will become better known through the inclusion of this wonderful book on the shortlist.

The awards, now in their 15th year, celebrate the array of writing talent within the East of England. Both books are in the General Non-Fiction category, and the winner (announced in January) from each of the six categories will be considered by a final judging panel of representatives from Jarrold, Eastern Daily Press, National Centre for Writing and University of East Anglia, followed by the Overall Book of the Year Award (with prize money of £1,000, courtesy of the PACCAR Foundation) on February 17.

Creating Constable is available to buy at the Mansion and The Art of Doris & Anna Zinkeisen can be purchased online.

We were so pleased to be able to launch both of these books at FoIM events at the Mansion, and Emma and her fellow authors carry our very best wishes with them into the next round of the Awards.
