Tudor Week

Tudor Week at Christchurch Mansion

During the October half-term I and two other volunteer guides entered into the spirit of Tudor life. James Hayward resplendent as Mr Withipoll, Erica Burrows as a member of his family and myself as cook.

With the aid of pictures of animals, birds and fish drawn by Elaine West I talked to visitors about Tudor diet. Many children asked me questions with the best being:-

How long does it take to cook a badger?

What does swan taste like?

Is there any meat in a boar’s head?

Any answers?

An exhausting but a great week!
