Preview - An Eye for Life: a celebration of portraiture, identity and home
Venue - Christchurch Mansion
Cost - Friends £6, Guests £9 (includes tea/coffee & cake)
This celebration of Suffolk portraits will show how humans have been capturing their identity through portraiture. It focuses on John Ferguson, an internationally established documentary, lifestyle, and portrait photographer who lives in Ipswich. His images tell stories, which are approachable, intimate, and unaffected, and subjects range from icons such as Tom Jones, Dolly Parton and The Spice Girls to images of Ipswich Banger Races. The exhibition will include the newly acquired Black Suffolk portraits funded by the Art Fund and FoIM, and will also highlight Ipswich’s historic portraiture collection covering 500 years of artists drawing, painting, carving and printing faces.
