Art Friends Suffolk – an afternoon with Suffolk Sketches

Art Friends Suffolk – an afternoon with Suffolk Sketches

Venue - Christchurch Mansion

Cost - £15 for FoIM members (includes tea and cake)

We are delighted to be collaborating with Art Friends Suffolk on this event directed by Art Collections & Learning Curator Emma Roodhouse. This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the drawings and watercolours of two significant Suffolk artists: Thomas Churchyard (1798-1865), landscape artist; and Samuel Read (1815-1883), illustrator and watercolourist.

Emma will talk about both artists and how they have been collected in Ipswich, and the event will present an opportunity to closely examine albums containing artworks by Churchyard and his family and also Read’s 80 Ipswich Portraits sketchbook from 1837, all recently acquired for the Ipswich collection.

Art Friends Suffolk made generous donations to both purchases and they are promoting this event, but they have kindly extended an invitation to a limited number of FoIM members. Email here to book. Please use the reference READ for your payment.
