George Frost Workshop - a joint FoIM/Ipswich Society event

George Frost (1744/5-1821), was a prolific artist who documented Ipswich life and was a collector of Thomas Gainsborough’s artwork as well as being a mentor to the young John Constable. In September 2023, The Friends purchased an album (with very generous assistance from Art Friends Suffolk), which contained some of Frost’s work. Following the unveiling of an Ipswich Society Blue Plaque commemorating Frost on Ipswich Waterfront in November, Emma Roodhouse, Collections & Learning Curator (Art) kindly offered to lead a workshop. There will be the opportunity to have a close view of some of his art works and the albums themselves, and discuss and share information about the locations in the sketches.
